Vojvodina Center for Human Rights, with local organizations of persons with disabilities Centre "Upright Living" and "... From the circle - Vojvodina", organized on December the 1st, 2011 the Open Forum entitled "Respect for diversity - Equality for all". The main goal of the Forum was to indicate the problem of existence of different barriers in Novi Sad for the people with disabilities and start solving this problem with a constructive dialogue with local authorities.
Open forums, within the Network Committee for Human Rights in Serbia (CHRIS), have been implemented in the other parts of Serbia: Nis, Valjevo, Novi Pazar and Negotin. more...

Alternative report on implementation of the Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities in Serbia done by the Network of Committees for Human Rights in Serbia – CHRIS, whose activities were conducted by the Vojvodina Center for Human Rights in regard of the enjoyment of rights of representatives of Bosniak, Vlach, Bulgarian and Albanian national minorities, was submitted to the Council of Europe on 30th September, 2007.

11. Drafting of the Alternative Report on implementation of the Charter for Regional or Minority Languages in Serbia
Alternative report on implementation of the Charter for Regional or Minority Languages in Serbia was submitted to the Council of Europe on 30th June 2007. Vojvodina Center for Human Rights held monitoring on implementation of minority languages in Vojvodina and at the same time conducted monitoring activities in Serbia within the Network of Committees for Human Rights in Serbia (CHRIS).

5. The life tree
10th December – International Day of Human Rights

Within the activities of CHRIS Network, (Committees for Human Rights in Serbia), Vojvodina Center for Human Rights in cooperation with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, mission in Serbia and Montenegro, and Nature Conservation Agency of Novi Sad celebrated the 10th December - International Day of Human Rights with the action “Life Tree”. On pieces of paper and flipcharts, citizens were able to indicate the rights which were the most important according to them and decorate the “Life Tree”. After that the Tree was planted, as last year, in the “Walk of Human Rights” in “Youth’s Park”. Within numerous messages as ornaments on the “Life Tree”, the most frequently mentioned were rights for freedom, thinking and right to free health care.

Participants: representatives of Roma and Romanian (Vlach) national minorities from Pozarevac, Petrovac, Golubac, Veliko Gradiste, Kladovo, Bor, Zajecar and Negotin, members of the CHRIS network offices.
2. The Life Tree

Vojvodina Center for Human Rights, in the framework of the CHRIS (Committees for Human Rights in Serbia) Network’s activities and in cooperation with the United Nations, Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) Mission to Serbia and Montenegro, and Nature Conservation Agency of Novi Sad, marked December 10th as the International Day of Human Rights with numerous activities in the framework of the ‘Life Tree’ project. Within the scope of the aforementioned activity, a plane tree and a prefabricated stand were placed on the platform in front of the Serbian National Theater and promotion materials containing the Articles of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights were hung out. Volunteers asked citizens to join the activities and write down which of the Rights is the most important to them. They could then decorate the ‘Life Tree’ with their message. Before the beginning of Đorđe Balašević’s concert, another activity of the same project, Balašević, who is also a UN free will ambassador, decorated the tree. Finally, the tree was planted in the Walk of Human Rights in Youth’s Park.
